EA FC 25 Review: A Familiar Formula, Refined

EA Sports FC 25 arrives as the second entry under the new branding — and the big question every player is asking is simple: is it worth buying, or is this just another roster update? After spending considerable time across multiple game modes, here's an honest breakdown.

Gameplay Feel

The most noticeable change in FC 25 is the introduction of FC IQ, a revamped tactical intelligence system. Players no longer just follow set runs — they read the game dynamically, making smarter off-ball movements based on their real-world role.

  • Positional play feels more authentic than in previous entries
  • AI teammates are noticeably better at creating space in build-up play
  • Defensive shape holds better against skilled attackers
  • The ball physics have subtle improvements, especially on long passes and set pieces

However, pace abuse still exists in online modes, which has been a persistent criticism for years. Defenders with lower pace ratings still struggle disproportionately against speedy attackers.

Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team remains the central mode for most players. FC 25 introduces Rush — a new 5v5 format where you bring your best players into a smaller pitch environment. It's genuinely fun for shorter sessions and offers a break from the pressure of full 11v11 Squad Battles and Weekend League.

The economy remains largely the same, meaning coins are hard to accumulate without grinding. Pay-to-win criticism hasn't gone away, though the addition of more free Objectives and Milestones does help bridge the gap somewhat.

Career Mode

Career Mode sees some of the most meaningful updates. The Live Start Points feature lets you begin a save mid-season using real current standings, squad form, and injury data. For immersion-seekers, this is a genuine quality-of-life upgrade.

  • Improved scouting and youth development system
  • Better press conference dialogue variety
  • Enhanced player morale mechanics

Clubs & Pro Clubs

Pro Clubs has been somewhat neglected again, receiving minor updates to player builds and a few cosmetic additions. Dedicated Clubs players will appreciate the changes, but it still feels like a secondary mode in terms of development investment.

Visuals & Presentation

Running on current-gen hardware, FC 25 looks excellent. Stadium atmosphere, player likenesses for top leagues, and broadcast-style overlays are all top quality. Lower-league teams and niche leagues still suffer from generic faces and less-detailed kits.

Verdict

EA FC 25 is the best entry in the series in a few years, primarily because of the FC IQ system and Career Mode improvements. If you skipped FC 24, this is absolutely worth picking up. If you're coming from FC 24, the improvements are real but not dramatic — it depends on how much you value the quality-of-life additions.
